‘Thief’ leaves completely heartbreaking note for woman he stole from
When somebody steals something from you, you don’t expect to have the item returned. Certainly not with a note of apology and cash.
But a mum-of-four, whose wind chimes were taken from her front porch recently, experienced just that.
Chrissy Marie, from Washington in the US, posted a sorrowful note to Facebook on March 3. With it, was a $5 note.
The note read: “I am sorry that we stole your wind chimes our mom died and liked butterflies so my sister took it and put it by our window I am sorry this is only money I have please do not be mad at us – Jake”.
Now, Chrissy wants to find the boy. She says she doesn’t want to punish him, but give him a gift instead.
Writing on Facebook, Chrissy says in reply: “Well Jake, I’m not sure who you are but you can come get your money back sweetie. I had three of those windchimes.”
The mum wants to give Jake and his sister a wind chime of their own – something for the two to remember their mother by.
“I am not mad, please come over to my house,” Chrissy adds.
“I do know what it’s like to lose a parent. I was five-years-old when I lost my mom and just lost my dad almost six-years-ago. Everyone, unfortunately, will lose a parent sometime in their life.”
Mostly, Chissy’s Facebook post has seen a really positive response. People want to support Jake in what must be a difficult time.
But others have posted negative comments about Jake, which Chrissy says she finds “troubling”.
“They stole from me but he did try to make it right, most likely without hurting his sister,” Chrissy explains.
“I just want to locate him”.
So far, Jake hasn’t come forward, according to Kidspot .
